Short version: we diagnose the fault on site, tell you the exact price before we touch anything, and you decide. If you go ahead, parts and labour are covered for 90 days. If you don’t, you pay only the diagnostic fee.
1. These terms
These terms apply when you book a repair with Appliance Repair Grid (“we”, “us”, “our”) by phone, text, email or through this website, and when a technician attends your property. By booking a visit you accept them on behalf of yourself and anyone else at the property.
If we agree anything different with you in writing — for example a fixed price on a quote or an arrangement with your insurer or property manager — that written agreement takes priority over these terms.
Nothing here takes away rights you have under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other applicable law.
2. Booking and appointments
- Submitting the form or leaving a message is a request, not a confirmed booking. The booking exists once we have spoken to you and agreed a time.
- We book arrival windows, not exact minutes. Traffic, weather and how long the job before yours takes can move things. We call or text ahead if the window slips.
- Same-day service is what we aim for and usually manage across Toronto, Markham, North York, Scarborough and Vaughan, but it is not guaranteed.
- We may decline or reschedule a job — for example if the appliance is outside our service area, outside what we repair, or if the visit would be unsafe.
3. Diagnosis and quotes
- The technician first carries out an on-site diagnosis. A diagnostic fee applies for that visit, and we tell you the amount when you book — there are no surprise call-out charges added later.
- After the diagnosis you get the exact price for the repair, including parts and labour, before any work starts.
- If you approve the repair and we complete it on that visit, the diagnostic fee is credited towards the total.
- If you decide not to go ahead, you pay the diagnostic fee only and nothing else.
- We will not charge more than 10% above an estimate you have accepted without your agreement. If we open the appliance and find a second, unrelated fault, we stop and re-quote rather than carrying on.
- Quotes are valid for 14 days and assume the appliance stays in the condition we saw it in.
- Some faults cannot be diagnosed without partial disassembly. Where that carries a risk to an old or brittle component, the technician explains it before starting and you choose whether to proceed.
4. Payment
- Payment is due on completion of the visit, unless we have agreed an account in writing.
- We accept Interac, cash and major credit cards. Credit cards are accepted for preauthorized accounts.
- Special-order and non-stocked parts may require a deposit before we order them.
- Prices include applicable taxes only where stated; otherwise HST is added.
- Overdue balances may attract interest at 2% per month (26.82% per year) and reasonable collection costs. Any warranty on the work is suspended while an invoice is unpaid.
5. Cancellations, rescheduling and missed visits
If you cancel
- Cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 2 hours before your agreed arrival window — just call or text us.
- Cancel later than that, or after the technician has already been dispatched, and we may charge the diagnostic fee to cover the trip.
- If nobody is at the property, or we cannot get access within a reasonable wait, that counts as a missed visit and the diagnostic fee applies.
- Deposits for special-order parts are refundable only if the supplier accepts the return. Parts ordered specifically for your model are often non-returnable, and we tell you before ordering when that is the case.
If we cancel
- If we have to cancel or move your visit, we contact you as early as we can and offer the next available slot. You pay nothing for a visit that did not happen.
- If a part turns out to be unavailable or discontinued, we tell you, refund any deposit for that part and charge only the diagnostic fee.
6. Parts
- Our vans stock the parts that fail most often, so most repairs finish on the first visit. Where a part has to be ordered, we give you a realistic timeline.
- We fit manufacturer (OEM) parts where they are available, and good-quality compatible parts where they are not. The technician tells you which is being used.
- Replaced parts are disposed of unless you ask to keep them at the time of the repair.
- Parts remain our property until the invoice is paid in full.
7. 90-day warranty
What is covered: the parts we supplied and the labour we performed on the specific fault we repaired, for 90 days from the date of the completed repair. If the same fault returns within that window, we come back and put it right at no cost to you.
What is not covered:
- A new or unrelated fault, or another component failing later.
- Parts you supplied yourself.
- Damage from misuse, overloading, power surges, flooding, pests, blocked drains or lack of maintenance.
- Work on the appliance by anyone else after our visit, or the appliance being moved or reinstalled by someone else.
- Normal wear on an appliance we advised was at the end of its life, where you chose to repair it anyway.
- Repairs recorded on the invoice as a temporary or partial fix at your request.
How to claim: call 647-952-2266 with your invoice number or the reference from your booking confirmation. We book a return visit, usually within the same timescales as a normal call. Warranty visits do not carry a diagnostic fee.
8. Access and safety
- Someone 18 or over must be at the property for the whole visit.
- Please clear roughly a metre of space in front of the appliance so it can be pulled out safely, and keep pets and children away from the work area.
- Water, gas and electrical shut-offs need to be accessible. Let us know at booking if the shut-off is outside, shared or hard to reach.
- The technician may pause or stop work where continuing would be unsafe — exposed wiring, a gas smell, standing water, an unstable installation, aggressive behaviour, or conditions that put their health at risk. The diagnostic fee still applies to the visit.
- We do not carry out gas line alterations, electrical rewiring, plumbing installation or cabinetry work. Where a repair depends on that work, we tell you what needs doing so you can bring in the right licensed trade.
9. Older appliances and repair-or-replace advice
Older appliances have brittle plastics, seized fasteners and perished seals. Disassembly needed to reach a fault can occasionally break a neighbouring component that was already at the end of its life. The technician flags that risk before starting where it applies, and we are not responsible for the failure of parts that were already worn out.
If the repair costs close to a replacement, we say so plainly. That is our honest opinion, not a valuation or a guarantee about how long the appliance will last.
10. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information about the appliance, the fault and the address, including anything about access, parking or building entry.
- Confirm you own the appliance or have the owner’s, landlord’s or property manager’s permission for the repair.
- Remove food, dishes, laundry and personal items from the appliance before we arrive, and move valuables and fragile items away from the work area.
- Tell us at booking if the appliance is still under a manufacturer or extended warranty. Work by an unauthorised repairer can void that warranty, and that is your decision to make.
- Pay the agreed amount on completion.
11. Limits of our liability
We are licensed and insured, and we take responsibility for damage that our technician actually causes through negligence during a visit. Report any such damage to us within 7 days so we can inspect it.
Subject to your statutory rights, we are not responsible for:
- Spoiled food, ruined laundry or similar contents loss — please move perishables to a cooler or another fridge if yours has failed.
- Pre-existing damage, wear or faulty installation carried out by someone else.
- Indirect or consequential losses such as lost income, accommodation costs, time off work or inconvenience.
- Delays caused by suppliers, couriers, manufacturers, weather or traffic.
- An appliance being beyond economic repair, or a discontinued part being unavailable.
Where we are liable, our total liability for any one job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job, except where the law does not allow such a limit — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
12. Complaints
Tell us first — most issues are sorted with one phone call. Call 647-952-2266 or email info@appliancerepairgrid.com with your invoice number and what went wrong. We acknowledge complaints within 2 business days and aim to resolve them within 30 days.
If we cannot agree, you keep every right you have under Ontario consumer protection law, including going to the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery or the courts.
13. Website, prices and content
- The text, images, layout and branding on this site belong to us and may not be copied or reused without permission.
- Information on the site, including indicative prices, service areas and timescales, is provided in good faith and may change without notice. It is not a binding offer — the price that binds us is the one quoted after diagnosis.
- Brand names are used only to describe the appliances we repair. We are an independent repair company and are not an authorised agent of, or affiliated with, any manufacturer unless we say so.
- Reviews and job examples shown are from real customers, with details trimmed for privacy.
- How we handle the information you send through the site is set out in our privacy policy.
14. Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute.
We may update these terms as our service changes. The version on this page at the time you book is the one that applies to your job. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
